Dahlonega, Georgia
William “Ken” Wood, a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, departed this earthly life on December 21, 2023. Born on September 6, 1958, in Dalton, GA, Ken was a beacon of charisma and courage, a man dedicated to his faith, family, and service to his country. His journey began in Dalton, traversed through Bremen, and eventually led him to Dahlonega, Georgia, where he spent his cherished years.
Ken's life was a testament to his dedication and resilience. Serving honorably in the United States Air Force for eight years, Ken exemplified courage and commitment. His professional journey continued for three decades as a mechanic and inspector at Delta Air Lines. A founding member of Concord Baptist Church in Dahlonega, Ken also devoted his time to teaching children's Sunday School, further nurturing his profound Christian faith. As the Apostle Paul wrote, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." (2 Timothy 4:7) Ken indeed fought the good fight, finished his race, and kept his faith, ready to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for all eternity.
Beyond his professional and religious commitments, Ken was a man of diverse interests. He was an ardent fan of Auburn football and Braves baseball, and his hobbies included playing golf, fishing, camping, collecting baseball cards, and slot cars. He cherished his puppies and loved spending time with his family, especially his beloved wife Kim, his children Chris, Brennan, Brad and Joy, their spouses, and his grandchildren Maddie, Abby, Conner, Colin, Chloe and Haleigh. Preceded in death by his parents William and Judy Wood, Ken's loving spirit will continue to live on through his family, including his sister Sheila Reed, nephew Grant Reed, and great-nephews Tripp and Charlie Reed.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at 11:00 am EST at Dahlonega Funeral Home, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 pm EST. The graveside service will take place at Dahlonega Memorial Park at 3:30 pm EST. We invite you to share your memories of William “Ken” Wood on his memorial page, upload photos, and celebrate the life of a truly remarkable man. His memory will forever be etched in our hearts.
