William Zack Taylor

William Zack Taylor of Cumming, Georgia passed away at age 97 on Thursday, June 5, 2025. Zack was born in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Zera Gibson Taylor and Mildred R. Taylor.

He graduated from Allegheny College in 1947 with a BA degree in Business Administration. He enlisted in the army in 1951 and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant as a Forward Observer Artillery in 1952 and married Alice Joyce Walthall December 27, 1952. They had 72 years together.

Zack was then sent to Korea assigned to the Second Division Artillery. He was soon assigned to the 37th Field Artillery supporting the 23rd Infantry Regiment, stopping the North Koreans 50 miles north of Seoul at the head of the Chorowan Valley at the battle of the Iron Triangle. He was the recipient of the Bronze Star, Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Battle Stars, the National Service Medal and the National Defense Medal. He was honorably discharged at the end of 1953. In 1953 Zack was hired by General Electric for whom he worked for 38 years.

Zack surrendered his life to Christ while serving in Korea and was a faithful servant of Jesus for the rest of his life.

He is survived by his wife Alice and 4 children, Cal (Jackie) Taylor, Susan Biondi, Melinda
Hughes, and Bill (Nancy) Taylor; 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1:00pm - 2:00pm at McDonald and Son Funeral Home in Cumming, Georgia on Sunday, June 15, 2025. Memorial service will follow in the chapel of the funeral home at 2:00pm. A reception will immediately follow the service. Internment will be Monday, June 16, 2025 at 1:00pm at Georgia National Cemetary in Canton, Georgia. Processional to the gravesite will begin at 11:00am at McDonald and Son Funeral Home.
