William Joseph Barefoot

William Joseph Barefoot, 53, of Cumming, GA died on November 26, 2012. He was born July 5, 1959 at the McLeod Infirmary in Florence, SC to William Pierce Barefoot and Margaret Clark Barefoot. Six years later, his brother Robert Andrew was born, then another six years later, his sister Elma Amelia Barefoot. Joe s father was Postmaster in Florence and was later moved to Atlanta, GA then to Houston, TX where Joe graduated from Cypress Fairbanks High School, receiving the engineering education that he would use the rest of his life. He settled permanently in Atlanta where he worked at many high-end engineering firms including the McBurney Corporation, Law Engineering and Blackstone Consulting. He was a proud member of numerous professional affiliations and had many educational and professional credentials. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus at The Church of the Good Shepherd in Cumming, GA participating in many charitable fund raising events. Joe is predeceased by his parents and is survived by his wife of 26 years, Lori, her family including her mother (predeceased by her husband), five siblings, four siblings in law, seven nieces/nephews, two neices/nephews in law, four great nieces/nephews, with another on the way. He is also survived by his brother, sister in law and three nephews, as well as his sister. Joe was a very good man who was loved by many. He was wonderful example with his compassion for animals and the unfortunate. His loss is devastating and he will never be forgotten. A memorial mass will be held on Friday, December 7, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of the Good Shepherd 3740 Holtzclaw Road, Cumming, GA 30041, 770-887-9861. A reception will follow immediately, sponsored by the Knights of Columbus, in the Parish Life Center.
