Willena Reid Heard Obituary (1935

Willena Reid Heard 06/15/1935 - 03/24/2023 Willena Reid Heard, age 87 of Cumming, Georgia passed away Friday, March 24, 2023. Born Saturday, June 15, 1935, in Cumming, Willena was a life-long resident of Forsyth County. She grew up an only child and graduated from Cumming High School in 1953. Soon after graduating Willena started her first and only job at Sawnee EMC, retiring in 1990 after enjoying a 37-year career. Willena is preceded in death by her parents, W.I. "Bill" Reid and Mary Frances Barrett & stepfather Emmett Hansard and her loving husband of 49 years, Veston G. Heard. She is survived by her sons, Tim G. Heard (Sharon) and Chris V. Heard (Maggie Johnson) of Cumming; grandchildren Reid, Jake, and Emma Heard; several nieces and nephews also survive. A true southern lady, her easy smile, laugh, and positive outlook brought joy to us all. To those who knew her best, Willena faced challenges with grace and strength. She was an inspiration to both friends and family who will miss her greatly. Visitation will be held at McDonald and Son Funeral Home in Cumming 5p-7p, Thursday, March 30, 2023, and noon until the hour of service at 2pm Friday, March 31, 2023 in the McDonald and Son Funeral Home chapel. Rev. Larry Vaughan, Rev. Dexter Gravitt, and Rev. Jeff Gravitt will be officiating. Interment will be at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens following the service.
