Virginia Lee McGechie, of Gainesville, Georgia, passed into the loving hands of her Savior on October 6, 2022, at the age of 81.
Virginia was born on February 12, 1941 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Samuel and Annabelle Derence. She married Joseph Dutka on February 17, 1962. Soon after their marriage, they began their ministry at Free Gospel Bible Institute in Export, Pennsylvania, where Joseph was Academic Dean. Virginia was Dean of Women, as well as teaching Pedagogy, and holding several other staff positions over the years. Joseph Dutka passed away on August 8, 1983. Virginia continued ministering there until her marriage to Paul Revere McGechie on December 4, 1984. They pastored Goshen First Assembly of God for many years, then evangelizing and helping other ministries for several years before returning once again to Free Gospel Bible Institute where they completed their ministry. Paul McGechie passed away on August 1, 2013, and Virginia continued serving there until her relocation to Gainesville, Georgia.
Virginia (or "Ginny" as she was known to her friends) gave her life to the Lord when she was six years old and faithfully served Him until the moment she entered heaven's gates. Whether serving on staff at Free Gospel, or being the wife of a professor, pastor or evangelist, working at a Christian school or Angel Daycare in Goshen, Indiana - whatever she was asked to do she always completed her ministry faithfully and with a joyful heart.
Virginia is survived by her sister Dorothy Ann Bedard, daughter Karen Harris (Brian), son David Dutka (Tamara), stepdaughters Terri Huitt (Phil), Paulette Kincaid (John) stepson Phillip McGechie, grandchildren Brianna Bedzyk (Matt), Danielle Cosgrove (Jay), Derek Harris, Taylor Dutka, Gabriel Valenciana (Gretchen), Eden Huitt, Rachel Martinez (Daniel), Jessica Cosselman (Brandon), and eleven great grandchildren. Virginia was predeceased by her parents, and her husbands.
The immediate family will have a private Celebration of Life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her honor sent to Free Chapel, Gainesville, Georgia where she currently attended (or any ministry of choice) would be appreciated.
