Vickie Stewart Kantor: June 12, 1951 - October 31, 2020
Vickie Diane Evans was born June 12, 1951, in Natchez, Mississippi, to Frank and Annie Ruth Johnson Evans. Upon her mother's remarriage, Vickie was adopted by Oscar Clinton Stewart, Jr., her forever "Daddy". Vickie Stewart was raised in Natchez and graduated from Natchez-Adams High School in 1969. She married Ray Edward Wise, and they gave birth to three precious children, Emily Kate, Edward Clinton, and Ernest Andrew. Ray and Vickie were married for three decades raising their children in Delhi, Louisiana.
In 2002, Vickie moved from Delhi to Cumming, Georgia, to begin a new chapter in her life. She met Errol Kantor of Cumming on Halloween day 2002. Vickie and Errol fell in love. They enjoyed a beautiful life together, creating a warm and loving home on a beautiful property in Cumming where she planted and grew beautiful plants and flowers - she was an avid gardener and had an amazing green thumb. On Halloween day 2014, Errol proposed and Vickie accepted. On Halloween day 2015 they were married. Vickie loved celebrating all holidays with Halloween being her very favorite. She so enjoyed dressing up for the occasion and greeting children.
In addition to gardening, Vickie enjoyed decorating her home and traveling. She and Errol spent many vacations at the beach with their children and grandchildren. In 2018 all their plans for retirement and more travel slowly came to a halt when she was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, which she fought valiantly for over two years. She lost her battle on Halloween day 2020 - her fifth wedding anniversary. She was at home with family by her side.
Vickie Kantor was a loving wife, mom, and "Mammy" to her eight grandchildren. She was also a wonderful big sister. She will be missed immensely by all her family and her friends and her beloved cat, Gracie.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Annie Ruth Stewart, paternal grandparents, Maurine Evans, O.C. and Jessie Stewart, as well as Frank Evans and Ray Wise.
Survivors include husband, Errol Kantor of Cumming, GA; children, Emily Wise Lacoste and Jay of Delhi, LA; Ed Wise and Kelly of Aurora, CO; Ernie Wise and Teresa of Hopewell, VA; Jeff Kantor of Swanee, GA; and Kevin Kantor of Lilburn, GA; and her grandchildren, whom she dearly loved, Stewart Wise, Maurina Scott-Wise, Elizabeth and Colton Wise, Katie Lacoste, Patrick, Fisher and Jackson Wise, and Micah and Chase Kantor. A celebration of life was held on the beautiful lawn of Vickie's home on November 3, 2020, with immediate family and close friends gathered. Another memorial service will be held later in Natchez, Mississippi, with family announcing that date via Facebook and text. It was Vickie's desire that her ashes be scattered in multiple places she loved including Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Colorado.
The family wishes to thank her wonderful and kind doctors and the staff at Northside Oncology, nursing staff with Homestead Hospice, as well as her night sitters with Senior Sitters.
