Tommy Irvin

–

Gainesville, Georgia

Tommy Andrew Irvin, known lovingly as Tom and Papa, passed away on March 13, 2026,
near his home on Lake Lanier, Georgia. He was 88 years old. Born on August 23, 1937, in
Atlanta, Georgia, to the late Andrew Jackson Irvin and the late Irene Thomas Irvin, Tom
grew up to become the very definition of a self-made man, building a life rich in love,
accomplishment, and genuine connection.

Tom launched a successful career representing Mead Packaging for over 26 years, serving the soft drink and beer industries with the kind of dedication and integrity that defined everything he did. In 1982, Tom and his wife Carolyn established The Irvin Company, a manufacturers rep agency that reflected their shared entrepreneurial spirit. When their daughter and son joined the business, the family expanded their vision and founded Irvin International Inc., selling manufacturing and marketing products to those same industries. Tom was a mentor and leader to his employees, always putting their best interests at heart.

Tom grew up near The Varsity in Atlanta. Being promoted, he and Carolyn, along with their three children, transferred in and out of Atlanta over the years, living in many different cities before finally building their dream home at Lake Lanier. It was there that Tom truly thrived, surrounded by the people and pastimes he cherished most. He loved his tennis team, his boat, fishing, and simply enjoying life on the lake with his neighbors. He and Carolyn also treasured time at their Florida condo, where they shared countless good times with family and friends.

What people remembered most about Tom was his fun sense of humor, his warm smile,
and his remarkable ability to recognize and compliment whomever he met. He was a
gentleman in every sense of the word, loving, generous, and deeply honorable. His
proudest achievements were his more than 50 years of marriage to Carolyn and being a
dedicated father, brother, uncle, and grandfather. Friendships and business relationships
meant the world to him, and he nurtured them all with care.

Tom was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carolyn Fowler Irvin (CeCe). He is
survived by his daughter, Janeen Irvin; his sons, Andrew Irvin and Eric James Irvin (Jill C
Irvin); and his sisters, Beverly Irvin Harrell (Sam Harrell, deceased) and Dorothy Irvin
Doster (Homer Doster.). He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Janice
Irvin Walker. Tom cherished his many nieces and nephews as well as six grandchildren
and a great granddaughter.

May he rest in God's gentle peace.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, May 17th, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., at his
daughter's home: 2430 Loxford Lane, Alpharetta, Georgia 30009. Family and friends
are warmly welcome.

To all who knew Tom, he held a special place in their hearts. We miss our Dad and are
comforted that he is now with his "Sweet Caroline."
