Dawsonville, Georgia
With a guitar in his hand and a domino on the table, Thomas Gary Westbrook, lovingly known as "COUNTRY," filled the room with laughter. Born on October 24, 1940, in Atlanta, Georgia, Thomas was a man of many layers—a funny jester, a generous giver, a humble soul, and a witty conversationalist. He lived a life rich in experiences, love, and music before his passing on June 9, 2024.
Thomas was a devoted father who held his children as the most critical aspect of his life. He was a hardworking Heavy Equipment Operator, having retired from Fulton County, who always found time to share a joke or a song. His witty humor was a source of constant amusement and will be remembered fondly by all.
Thomas is survived by sons Ronnie (Farrah) Adkins, Richard (Jodi) Westbrook, and Gene Westbrook; daughters Karen (Jerry) Posten, Sherry Maddox, Rhonda Hughes, and Dora Westbrook; sister Dianne Hubbard; son-in-law Jerry (Karen) Posten; and daughter-in-laws Jodi (Richard) Westbrook and Farrah (Ronnie) Adkins. 17 Grandchildren, 12 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father TC Westbrook, mother Mildred Westbrook, brother Bill Westbrook, daughter Aleshia Albright, and his wife Mary Westbrook.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at 4:00 pm EDT at the McDonald & Son Funeral Home located at 150 Sawnee Drive, Cumming, Georgia, 30040.
As Mark Twain once said, "The secret of getting ahead is getting started." And Thomas, with his guitar and dominoes, taught us all to embrace the game of life with humor, humility, and kindness. His light will continue to shine in the hearts of those who knew him.
We encourage all who have been touched by Thomas’s life to share memories and upload photos to the memorial page. The tales of his funny jokes, his generous acts, his humble nature, and his witty quips are the stories that will keep his spirit alive. Let us remember and celebrate Thomas for the remarkable man he was.
