Thomas Phillip Johnson

Thomas Phillip Johnson - Phil, dedicated husband, father, Poppy, and friend, passed away peacefully at age 72 on June 25, 2022, in Canton, GA surrounded by loved ones.

Phil was born to Tom and Freida Johnson on May 19, 1950 in Hickory, NC. He graduated from Bunker Hill High School before attending Western Carolina and graduating with a degree in Business. Phil went on to work for Dunn and Bradstreet but spent the majority of his career in sales at BIKE Athletic.

Phil was an active member at Cokesbury United Methodist Church in Knoxville, TN for many years. He had a love for playing golf, University of Tennessee football and basketball, and traveling with friends and family. After retiring, Phil and Denise moved to Canton, GA to spend more time with their daughter and her family.

Phil is preceded in death by his parents Tom and Freida Johnson. He is survived by his wife of 45 years Denise Johnson of Canton, GA; his daughter Lauren Porterfield, son-in-law Tim, grandsons Hunter and Walker, of Roswell, GA; brother Jim Johnson, sister-in-law Denetia of Conover, NC, and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Phil's life will be held Saturday, July 23, 2022, at 2pm at Cokesbury United Methodist in Knoxville, TN.
