Thomas L. Davis

Dr. Thomas L. Tom Davis, 67, of Gainesville, GA died on August 14, 2011 at his home. Born in Akron, OH, he was the son of the late William and Evelyn Davis. Tom received his BA from Hiram College, his MA from The University of Akron and earned his EdD from the University of Georgia. He had a 45 year career as an outstanding educator with early teaching positions in Twinsburg and Akron, OH; as Director of Education at Firestone Plantation in Harbel, Liberia; and as Principal of Nordonia Hills City Schools in Northfield, OH. After locating in Georgia, Tom was Principal of Timothy Road Elementary in Athens; then he served as Principal of Friendship Christian School in Cumming and for 12 years, until his retirement, he was Principal of Big Creek Elementary in Cumming. Tom is survived by his beloved wife, Amy Reeves Davis and daughter, Meagan Emily Davis of Gainesville, GA; sister and brother-in-law, Donna and David Caudill of Doylestown, OH; mother and father-in-law, Herschel and Ann Reeves of Athens, GA; brother and sisters-in-law, Jamey and Nancy Harrison of Bogart, GA, Emily Ingram of Athens, GA, Greg and Terri Reeves, of Athens, GA, Jerry and Jan Reeves of Flowery Branch, GA, Ric and Amy Ingram of LaGrange, GA; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will held at 4:00 pm on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at First Redeemer Church in Cumming. Interment will follow at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 16 from 7:00 9:00 pm at the funeral home.
