Thelma C. Harrop

Thelma C. Harrop, of Cumming, was called home on July 26, 2023. Beloved daughter of the late Valsin Brousse Jr. and Thelma H. Brousse of Chalmette, LA. Thelma is survived by her husband of more than 62 years, James D. Harrop. Thelma leaves behind her children Sharon (Mike) Williamson and Diana (Dan) O'Sullivan. Sister of Jimmy (Jean Anne) Brousse of New Orleans, LA. and Carolyn (Bob) Manning of Dallas, TX. Thelma had 4 grandchildren, 1 great grandson and 7 nephews. Thelma was preceded in death by her brother, Valsin Brousse III.

Thelma was born in Chalmette, LA. and was the youngest of 4 children. Brothers, V.L. and Jimmy and sister, Carloyn, frequently attended summer camps where Thelma usually won medals in various sporting events.

After graduating from the Academy of the Holy Angels in New Orleans, LA., she married her beloved husband, James, when she was just 17. The Air Force moved the family to several states while providing for their girls. After retiring in Virginia, the family moved to Georgia and has called Georgia their home since 1979.

Thelma's number one priority was her loving family. She was an outstanding cook and homemaker and always made time to help her kids with their homework or class projects. After the girls went off to college, Thelma dedicated her time to creating beautiful floral arrangements that were showcased at various arts and craft festivals. When the grandchildren were born, she lovingly helped with their upbringing and gave them unconditional love. Thelma cherished attending their various sporting events while cheering their teams on to victory. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
