Ted McClendon Thurmond

Ted McClendon Thurmond, 46, of Gainesville, GA passed away on September 7, 2010. Born in Weslaco, TX, he was predeceased by his brother, Thomas Edward Thurmond and sister, Nancy White Thurmond. Mr. Thurmond was an employee of Verint Systems Inc. for 8 years as a Systems Engineer. He attended Texas Christian University and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Prior to graduating from High School, Ted attended the Marine Military Academy in Harlingen, Texas. He was also employed by N.A.S.A. and worked with the US Space Shuttle program, boarding each shuttle post mission for systems and living quarter assessment and retrieval. Mr. Thurmond is survived by his wife Maureen Ann Frey Thurmond, of 11 years; parents, Dr. and Mrs. Jack Alfred Thurmond (Lois Belden) of Kerrville, Texas; children, Kayla Nancy Thurmond and Jack Robert Thurmond; brothers, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Belden Thurmond (Kathryn Narum) of Houston, Texas. Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Forte Thurmond (Jennifer Bisset) of Oslo, Norway; sister and brother in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Wade Simmons (Mary Ellen Frey) of Dawsonville, GA, Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Butler Watson (Marjorie Jeanne Frey) of Cumming, GA, Mr and Mrs. Daniel Robert Frey (Audrey Shapiro) of John s Creek, GA; Father and Mother In-Law, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Charles Frey (Barbara Bonnie Jeanne Johnson) of Cumming, GA; and a wonderful group of Nieces and Nephews that will miss Uncle Ted tremendously; Elissa, Timothy, Jacqueline, Daniel, Katie, Cole, Sam, Jason, Megan, Connor and Blake. A Memorial Service will be held at The Church of The Good Shepherd, 3740 Holzclaw Road, Cumming, GA. Saturday, September 11, 2010 @ 2:30 PM.
