Sybil Roper Chastain

Sybil Roper Chastain, age 80 of Cumming, GA passed away peacefully August 16, 2019. She was born in Forsyth County, GA on February 2, 1939. She was a lifelong resident of Cumming, GA. Sybil was a faithful member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. She worked as the secretary at First Baptist Church in Cumming for 18 years, were she enjoyed meeting and talking with people about her love of Jesus. Sybil was a loving mother, grandmother (Meme), and sister.

Sybil was preceded in death by her parents Grady and Christeen Roper. She is survived by her children, daughters, Christie Brooks (husband Kevin) of Ball Ground, GA, Debra Barnes (husband Matt) of Cumming, GA, son, Adam Cornelison of Cumming, sister, Beverly Hales (husband Ronald), brother, Junior Roper (wife Ruby), grandchildren, Jesse Brooks (wife Emily), Jacob Barnes (wife Amanda), Zachary Barnes, great-grandson Kole Barnes and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, August 20th, at 1pm, Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, 5210 Pisgah Rd, Cumming, GA 30028. Rev. Jamie Sanford and Rev. Clyde Boling will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday from 4p until 8p and again Tuesday morning from 10a to 12:30p at McDonald & Son Funeral Home, 150 Sawnee Dr. Cumming, GA.
