Alpharetta, Georgia

Sharon Rae Batten, born November 14, 1935 in Sheldon, Iowa, passed peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on February 21, 2025 in Atlanta, Georgia.

Sharon was an exceptionally beautiful and vibrant woman with incredible style, who was loved by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Born to Hazel and Gary Roggen, Sharon grew up in a happy home with her younger brother, Jim. Sharon's first marriage took her to Indialantic, Florida where she was a devoted mother to her five children and was an active member of the community, including volunteering at her church and offering swimming lessons to children. As her children grew up Sharon began a career in the fashion industry. She started working in a clothing boutique and eventually opened her own boutique in Indialantic where her mission was to empower women to feel more confident and beautiful through fashion.

It was during that time she met and married the love of her life, Howard Batten. Sharon and Howard merged their lives and families and embarked on a 50-year journey together marked by deep love and commitment as well as a spirit of fun and adventure. Sharon and Howard loved to travel and had numerous wonderful trips together. They were highly dedicated to their family and friends, always opening their homes to their loved ones. Sharon found joy in entertaining and took great care to create a warm, inviting environment and paid attention to the little details that would make her guests feel welcomed and special. Sharon's fashion career spanned four decades and she opened boutiques in Vero Beach, Florida, Boca Raton, Florida, Jacksonville, Florida and Toronto, Canada. Sharon lit up every room she entered with a radiant, kind and loving energy and she will be deeply missed.

Sharon is survived by her loving husband, Howard; her children William (Joyce) Wilkins, Robert (Sarah) Wilkins, Kathryn Ullian and Thomas Wilkins; her step-children Chip Batten, Wendy Batten and Geoff Batten, her grandchildren (Rachel Myslinski, Nicole (Omar) Medina, Christopher (Christie) Bromley, Dane (Elizabeth) Ullian, Lauren (Justin) Warner, Kate (Michael) Palmer, Sam (Missy) Wilkins, Lindsey (Matthew) Motley, Grace Langstaff, William (Amanda) Wilkins, Hannah (Tim) Winter and Riley Wilkins), her 16 great-grandchildren and many dear friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Gary and Hazel Roggen, her brother, James Roggen, her sister-in-law, Carolyn Roggen, and her beloved son, Timothy Wilkins.
