Sarangan Sampath

–

Alpharetta, Georgia

Sarangan “Sam” Sampath passed away peacefully on March 5, 2024. Born on June 6, 1942 in Mayavaram, India, he described his childhood as joyful, surrounded by loving siblings and extended family. He came to the US to complete his PhD in aerospace engineering at Georgia Tech in 1972, after having studied at Annamalai University, Madras Institute of Technology, and taught at IIT-Madras. He continued his work at Lockheed Martin in Georgia and IBM in New York, eventually retiring to life as a full-time thatha (grandpa).

He is survived by his loving wife, Kalyani, daughter Amitha, son-in-law Vivek, grandchildren Keshav (10) and Anika (8), and numerous siblings, cousins, nephews and nieces who have all been ever devoted and supportive.

He loved spending time with his wife and family, collecting music, cracking a good joke, studying Vedanta philosophy, playing chess with his grandson, drawing pictures with his granddaughter, hiking the trails around the Chattahoochee, and enjoying a good cup of coffee. He was generous to a fault, kind, fair, and compassionate. He insisted that this body is temporary and that his Atman and spirit will always exist. As his family, we continue to feel his love and presence in those small beautiful and unexpected moments.
