“Sam”

Samuel Lewis Erwin, Jr. passed away peacefully on November 22, 2025, with his family by his side. It is with deep sorrow and great love that we share his passing. He was a member of Johns Creek Baptist Church and a man of deep faith.
Sam is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Beth, of Cumming, Georgia; his son, Samuel Scott Erwin, of Dacula, Georgia; and his grandson, Lexington Scott Erwin, of Mobile, Alabama.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Barrett, his father, Samuel Lewis Erwin, Sr., and his sister, Elaine Stansel.
After graduating, Sam proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. He then began what would become a distinguished 37-year career with General Motors, where he earned the respect and friendship of countless colleagues. Sam earned his degree through General Motors Institute, upon graduation he went into management of the paint division of General Motors. Following his retirement, he founded his own business, Beselex, which he successfully operated for 11 years.
Golf was more than a hobby for Sam—it was part of who he was. He achieved seven hole-in-ones, each one a story he loved to share. He also reached the rare milestone of shooting his age twice at 69. The game brought him joy, lifelong friendships, and many cherished memories.
Sam was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a proud, joy-filled Pap Paw. His family was his greatest love, and he was deeply cherished by all who knew him.
