Ruth Jacobsen

–

Cumming, Georgia

Ruth Jacobsen, our beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed peacefully on February 18, 2026, just shy of her 96th birthday. Born Ruth Gladys Schmook in Chicago, IL, on February 20, 1930, she was affectionately known as "Tootsie" to those who knew and loved her most. Ruth, a charismatic and empathetic woman whose happiness was found in the simplest of things, imbued every space she entered with warmth, love, and a touch of her unique humor.

Ruth was a dedicated individual, both in her personal and professional life. She served as a secretary for many years, tirelessly dedicating herself to her work until her retirement in 1970. Ruth's commitment extended far beyond her career. She was unwaveringly devoted to her family, the center of her world. She was a loving mother to me and a doting grandmother to James, Erin, and Robert Jr. We were the lucky recipients of her boundless love, wisdom, and, of course, her delightful, homemade cookies. Ruth was also an avid bowler and a crossword puzzle enthusiast, her sharp mind always up for a challenge.

She lived a life full of vibrance and joy, spreading her warmth from Chicago, IL to Tucson, AZ, and finally to Cumming, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Roy Jacobsen, and her parents, Raymond and Josephine Schmook. Ruth is survived by her son, Robert (Melissa) Jacobsen, and her precious grandchildren, James (Christian) Eddington-McGill, Erin, and Robert Jr.

Ruth's legacy of love and dedication will forever live on in our hearts. We invite you to celebrate her life by sharing your memories and uploading photos to Ruth's memorial page. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you please make a donation to breast cancer research.
