Roy Glenn Pickelsimer

Roy Glenn Pickelsimer, 95, of Dahlonega, died Wednesday, March 9th, 2011, at his home. He was born on April 6th, 1915, to Elijah and Mary (Cook) Pickelsimer in Fannin County, Georgia. He married Grace (Owenby) Pickelsimer on April 19th, 1937. Roy and Grace lived in Akron, Ohio for over 60 years. He lived with his son Joe Pickelsimer in Oakwood Hills, Illinois, until Joe s passing. At which point he moved to Dahlonega, Georgia, and resided there with his grandson, Brian, and his family until his death. Roy worked for Goodyear Aerospace Corporation for 32 years when he retired on May 1st, 1980. He enjoyed many winters in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina with his wife, Grace. He enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Elijah and Mary Pickelsimer; his beloved wife, Grace Pickelsimer and his only son, Robert Joseph Joe Pickelsimer. Survivors include his daughter-in-law, Karen Pickelsimer; his two grandsons, R. Brian Pickelsimer, his wife, Ann (Kidd) Pickelsimer and their three children, Kaitlyn, Reid and Kaylee (who s nickname was the Boss , given to her by Roy), and Eric J. Pickelsimer, his wife, Marcie (Newbill) Pickelsimer and their two sons, A.J. and Gus. Friends and family may call Saturday, March 12, 2011 from 3 to 5 p.m. with a memorial service to be held at 5 p.m. at Dahlonega Funeral Home.
