Rosario Bentley

–

Cumming, Georgia

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Rosario R. Bentley, who left us unexpectedly on July 13, 2024 at the age of 84. Rosario, commonly and affectionately known as “Charo”, was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, cherished by all who knew her.

Born on November 1, 1939 in Manila, Philippines, Charo was the 8th and youngest of 6 sons and 2 daughters to Marcelino Rodriguez and Mercedes Urbina. She grew up in Madrid, Spain and immigrated to the United States in June 1965.

Charo retired from the Southern California College of Optometry, where she managed their off-campus clinic in Baldwin Park, Ca. for over 15 years. She loved to travel, visiting Europe, South America and various places within the United States. New York City was among her favorite repeat destinations as it reminded her of her beloved Madrid.

Upon retiring she grew a passion for volunteering. She organized numerous events within her church and community, which included baby showers for pregnant teens, backpack/school supply and coat drives for lesser fortunate school-aged children, American Red Cross blood drives and team representation at AIDs walks and events. She also participated in the delivery of meals to senior citizens through the Meals on Wheels organization.

A devout Catholic, she was known for her kindness, utmost generosity, humor, and deep-rooted love for her friends and family. Charo enjoyed cooking and loved to host family gatherings and get-togethers. She happily and unselfishly donated to countless charitable organizations on a regular basis.

She is survived by a son, Fred Rodriguez, of San Jacinto, Ca, a daughter Maggie Odenbrett, of Suwanee, Ga, grandchildren Steven Rodriguez, of Rancho Cucamonga, Ca, Carly Rodriguez, of San Jacinto, Ca, Ian Odenbrett and Cassidy Odenbrett, of Suwanee, Ga, great-grandchildren Stevie Rodriguez, of Rancho Cucamonga, Ca, and Sydney Dean of San Jacinto, Ca.

Charo was predeceased by a son, Alan R. Bentley, her husband, Alan M. Bentley, brothers, sister, and extended family.

A Catholic Funeral Mass celebrating Charo’s life will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 12:00 pm at St. Brendan the Navigator Catholic Church, 4633 Shiloh Rd. Cumming, Ga. 30040.

In honor of Charo’s selfless and generous spirit, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to any recognized and legitimate charity in her name.

She made our world brighter and we will forever cherish the beautiful memories and the legacy she leaves behind.
