Ronald Henry Lunsford

Ronald Henry Lunsford of Cumming, Georgia - Ron Lunsford died at home on Tuesday August 15, 2017. Ron was born on March 16, 1953 in Atlanta, GA. He was the son of Ted and Helon Lunsford. After high school Ron was awarded a football scholarship to the military academy at West Point. He spent a year at West Point before transferring to Austin Peay where he continued to play football. He graduated with a degree in secondary education and taught American literature at Lithonia High School in Lithonia, Georgia where he also coached the football and baseball teams. Later he worked for Maryland Casualty Insurance as a claims adjuster. Ron loved and rescued cats. He enjoyed playing golf and watching college football but most of all he loved his mother. Ron spent the last few years of his life caring for his mother so she could continue to live an independent life.

Ron is survived by his sisters Cynthia Lunsford (Phil) of Cumming, Ga. and Vickie Mason (Mitchell) of Kennesaw, Ga., his brother Jeff Lunsford (Sherri) of Roswell, Ga., his nieces Audrey Kolowich (Jonathan) of Vinings, Ga. and Janae Lunsford of Roswell, Ga., and his nephews Ethan Lunsford of Roswell, Ga. and Max Mason of Kennesaw, Ga.

A Memorial Service for him and his mother will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at McDonald and Son Funeral Home.
