Roland Haynie Smith

Roland Haynie Smith 79, of Cumming, Georgia passed away peacefully on Friday, June 4th, 2021.

Roland grew up in Forest Park, GA and went on to become a Rambling Wreck, graduating from Georgia Tech in 1963. He and his high school sweetheart married in 1963 and Roland then joined the Air Force. After he completed his service, he joined Delta Airlines and had a long and successful career. He retired from Delta in 1994 and spent his retirement years writing, spending time with his grandchildren, and traveling the world with his wife and friends.

Roland is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Smith of Cumming, Georgia.

Children; Julie Smith Woods (Sam) of Prosperity, South Carolina, and Mark Andersen Smith (Rhonda) of Jasper, Georgia.

Brother and sister-in-law; Richard Dean Smith (Linda).

Five grandchildren also survive; Dalton Smith, Shelby Woods, Emily Rogers, Reagan Woods, and Chase Goss.

A celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday, June 9th, 2021 in the chapel of McDonald and Son Funeral Home at 11:00am.

Urn burial with Air Force Honors will be held on July 6th, 2021 at 3:00pm at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia. For those that wish to attend to service at Georgia National please arrive at the funeral home at 1:15pm the day of the service.
