Cumming, Georgia

Roger Wayne Speight, beloved husband, father, and papa, passed away on July 2, 2024, at the age of 70. Roger was a pillar of strength and kindness, leaving an undeniable mark on everyone who had the honor of knowing him.

Born on March 2, 1954, in Atlanta, GA, Roger was the youngest of two boys. He met the love of his life, Brenda, during his high school years and they married on November 14, 1974. With Jesus at the center of their family, their love story became an inspiring testament to the power of devotion and partnership. This year marks 50 wonderful years of marriage.

Together, Roger and Brenda raised three daughters: April, Amber, and Audrey. Roger was a guiding light to his children, instilling in them the values of integrity, generosity, and family. He took immense pride in their accomplishments and cherished the moments spent together. In the words of his girls, he was the “absolute best Dad & Papa.”

Roger’s role as "Papa" was one he treasured deeply. His four grandchildren brought immeasurable joy to his life. From telling jokes and stories to family vacations, Roger’s bond with his grandchildren was characterized by love, lots of laughter, and countless memories.

In his community, Roger was known for his friendly spirit and humor. If you knew him, you knew he never met a stranger. To his church family, he was known for his strong hugs and big smiles. To his trucker family, he was “Midnight Bullet,” a welcoming, hilarious, and strong role model. To extended family, including the countless friends who are like family, Roger was both the life of the party and also a dependable friend.

Roger dedicated over 40 years to a distinguished career as a truck driver for FedEx, where his unwavering commitment and exemplary service left an impact on the company and his colleagues.

Roger is survived by his devoted wife, Brenda, his daughters and sons-in-law April and Ryan Carson, Amber and Rick Stiefel, and Audrey and Jordan Hayes, and his grandchildren, Kate, Emma, Wren, and Micah. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary Speight, and his brother, Glenn Speight.

Roger’s legacy of love, strength, wisdom, kindness, and FUN will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

We love you, Roger, Dad, Papa.
