With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Robert M. Johnson, better known as "Bob" to his friends and family, on June 23, 2024. Born on April 22, 1934, in New York, New York, Robert's life was a tapestry of love, wisdom, and accomplishment. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
Robert was a man of many passions, a lifelong lover of opera, art museums, and literature. He played the clarinet in the marching band at the University of Pennsylvania, where he graduated from the Wharton School of Business in 1955. His talent for connecting with people led him to a successful career in sales management, culminating in his retirement from Bristol Myers Squibb in 1994. Among his most cherished hobbies was collecting coins, a pastime that spoke to his appreciation for history and detail. He was a loving spectator at his children's athletic events and a dedicated friend, maintaining a close-knit group of friendships for over 76 years. Robert's faith was a guiding force in his life, attending Mass every Sunday and living his life in accordance with the Christian teachings.
As it is written in the book of Proverbs (Proverbs 3:5-6), "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." This verse encapsulates Robert's faith and trust in God's wisdom throughout his life.
Robert leaves behind a beautiful family who will continue his legacy of love and kindness. He is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia; his children, R. Johnson and Sheila (Randy) Hamill; his grandchildren, Elizabeth, Ellen, Olivia, and Jane Johnson, Dillon (Kate) Hamill, Leah (Ben) Albainy, and Michael Hamill. He is preceded in death by his parents, Carroll and Elizabeth Johnson.
Robert's life was a testament to love, faith, family, and friends. His memory will forever be a beacon of light and love for all who had the privilege of knowing him. We invite you to share your memories of Robert and upload photos on his memorial page, as we celebrate a life beautifully lived and dearly missed.
