Robert Charles Finamore

–

Cumming, Georgia

Robert (Bob) Charles Finamore stepped across Home plate in the early morning hours of Saturday, May 21, 2022. Bob was born on October 5, 1960 in Youngstown, OH to James and Antoinette (Faustino) Finamore. He graduated from Boardman High School in 1978 and attended Youngstown State University. Bob married Elizabeth (Horihan) in 1997. Together they had the blessing of raising three amazing daughters, Angelina, Olivia, and Gabriella.

Bob was a man after God's own heart. He was a great example of how we should live to give glory to God by serving God and serving others. Bob lived this out in the kitchen. He cooked great family meals for his family and for guests. He prepared meals for church events in three different states as his family moved from Ohio to Florida and then to Georgia. Most recent claim to fame would likely be the biscuits he did for the youth breakfasts at First Baptist Cumming. There were never leftovers.

Bob lived out his mission on the ballfield. He did this as a baseball player for many years, then a softball player, and then as a softball coach for many more years. He was the "just right" combination of competition and care as he guided athletes to develop their skills and their personal character.

Bob had a knack for all things "techy." He also had a knack for letting folks hold onto their dignity while he solved their "user error" problems. That pairing of smarts and kindness may not often be found, but it is genuinely appreciated by all the people who experience it.

Bob gave glory to God by serving as a leader for a men's small group and as a teacher for middle schoolers. First study the Word of God and then put it into action. He often reminded the middle schoolers, "Spend your time doing the do's, and you don't have time to do the don'ts." That is good advice for all of us. Even when facing the reality of a diagnosis of bile duct cancer, Bob's concern was "How can I serve God in this? What should I be doing for Him?" To the end, Bob was a man after God's own heart. "Well done, good and faithful servant...come and share your master's happiness." Matthew 25:21

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, James and Antoinette Finamore, his sister Valerie Habuda, and his sister Theresa Graham. Bob is survived by his wife, Liz and daughters Angelina, Olivia, and Gabriella, all of Cumming. He is also survived by his brother James Finamore (Cherrill) of Heathrow, FL; brother-in-law Arnold Habuda of Poland, OH; brother-in-law Larry Graham of Orlando, FL; brother-in-law Randy (Deena) Ganrude of LaCrosse, WI, sister-in-law Patricia (Russ) Konrad of Prescott, WI; brother-in-law Joseph Horihan of Caledonia, MN; brother-in-law James Horihan of Hokah, MN; brother-in-law Jeffrey (Nicole) Horihan of LaCrosse, WI; brother-in-law Robert Horihan of Winona, MN.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 26th from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at First Baptist Cumming Church. Funeral service will be Friday, May 27th at 1:00 pm at First Baptist Cumming Church. The Finamore family requests that instead of flowers, people may choose to make a donation to the Middle School Ministry at FBC. Checks can be made to FBC Cumming with "Designate to Middle School" in the memo line.

The Fin Fam also wishes to express our immense gratitude to all who walked with us on this journey. You have been the hands and feet of the Body of Christ. You have truly been giving yourselves away. You have made this verse real for all observers: "By this all people will know you are my disciples, if you have love for one another." (John 13:35.) Thank you for loving Bob and his Fin Fam.
