Dawsonville, Georgia
Robert Goodson Cushen, affectionately known as “Bubba,” passed away on February 12, 2026, at the age of 89. Born on July 17, 1936, in Gadsden, Alabama, Bubba lived a full and meaningful life centered on faith, family, and the great outdoors. For the past 38 years, he made his home on Lake Lanier in Dawsonville, Georgia, where he created countless cherished memories with those he loved.
Bubba was a fun-loving man whose warm personality and gift for storytelling made him beloved by everyone who knew him. He never met a stranger and had a way of making people feel welcome and valued. A devoted Christian, Bubba read his Bible daily and faithfully shared his love for Jesus with others, helping lead many to faith through his words and example.
He had a deep love for hunting, fishing, and golf, and nothing brought him more joy than spending time outdoors with his family — especially teaching his children and grandchildren to fish and hunt. Time spent on the water or in the woods with Bubba will forever be treasured.
Bubba is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Mary Elizabeth Cushen; his daughters, Denise Pepper and her husband Timothy Pepper, and Dana Webb and her husband Everett Webb. He was preceded in death by his daughter Debra Hambrick and her husband Gregory Hambrick.
He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Robert and Allison Starling; Mitch and Kelsey Starling; Rett and Maddie Webb; Rachael and Ross Walters; and Anslee Webb; as well as four great-grandchildren who brought him tremendous pride and joy.
Bubba’s legacy of faith, love, laughter, and family devotion will live on in all who were blessed to know him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
