Rita Lagomasino

Rita Lagomasino, age 93, of Cumming, GA passed away peacefully on Monday, August 27, 2024. Rita was a cherished mother to Ray, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.

Born on March 30, 1931 in Havana, Cuba, Rita was the daughter of Jose Guillermo Hernandez and Luisa Amalia Hernandez Borges. She married the love of her life Ramon Lorenzo Lagomasino on February 14, 1954, and began their family with the birth of their son, Raymond "Ray", in August 1955. In 1961, Rita and Ray left Cuba for the United States of America where they cherished and loved this great country that gave them freedom, prosperity, and hope.

Rita retired from the IBM Corporation in Miami FL after a long and very successful career. During her post-retirement years, she enjoyed working for Pinecrest Academy in Cumming, GA, and as a translator for Forsyth County schools.

Rita was very active in her parish of St. Brendan the Navigator in Cumming and assisted as a founding member several programs, including Our Family, Voyagers and the Senior Group.

Rita is preceded in death by her loving husband, Ramon Lorenzo Lagomasino; mother, Luisa Amelia Hernandez Borges, and father, Jose Guillermo Hernandez. She is survived by her son, Ray (Jill) Lagomasino; grandchildren, RJ (Christine) Lagomasino; Thomas Lagomasino; Annie Lagomasino; and a great-grandchild.

Rita will be honored with a Celebration of Life Mass at St. Brendan the Navigator, 4633 Shiloh Rd, Cumming, GA 30040, at 1pm on Thursday, September 19, 2024, followed by fellowship and refreshment in the parish hall.

It was Rita's wish that any memorial tributes be made in the form of charitable donations to the St. Brendan the Navigator Hispanic or Music Ministry.
