RICHARD GLENN ROLEY, SR.

We remember and celebrate the life of Richard Glenn Roley Sr., of Cumming, Georgia, who went to Heaven on October 6, 2024.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Tillie Roley, brothers Norman Roley and Gene Roley and granddaughter Crystal Clark.

Richard leaves behind a legacy of love to his wife of 47 years Janice Roley, children Janice (Dennis) Dean, Glenn (Kim) Roley, Jeff (Maialynne) Roley, Stacie Guthrie, Karen (Billy) Moody and Scott (Wendi) Guthrie; sister-in-law Sara Roley; brother in law Ron (Dannye) Kimsey; grandchildren Joe, Lauren, Danielle, John Michael, Sydney, Kaylie, Linzy, Sydney, Abbie, and Mitch; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Born in Miami, Florida on November 20, 1936, Richard moved to Atlanta after high school to pursue an Electrical Engineering degree at the Georgia Institute of Technology. After serving his country in the United States Navy, Richard’s professional journey spanned more than five decades in the Telecommunications industry.

A man of courage and integrity, Richard will be remembered for his strong faith in God, love for his family, proud Navy service, passion for Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets Football, adventurous spirit for travel and musical talent for playing trumpet and French horn in many church orchestras. He will be greatly missed by his wife, family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.

Visitation will be on Saturday, October 12th, 2024 from 11:00am-12:00pm. A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 12:00 pm at the McDonald and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Cumming, Georgia. Pastor Mike Schmid of First Redeemer Church will officiate.

A time of fellowship will follow in the reception hall. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Graveside services will be held at Georgia National Cemetery at a later date.
