Richard Scott Payne

Richard Scott Payne, 54, of Cumming, GA lost his battle with cancer on July 14, 2013. Born in North Kansas City, MO, he is preceded in death by his father, Warren Payne. The family moved to Dunwoody when Richard was 8 years old. For thirty years Richard lived and worked in the Brookhaven area. He was a talented artist, painter, humorist, and photographer. Richard was a gentle person with a unique perspective and a love of animals. He especially loved the memory of his golden retriever, Maggie. He is survived by his son, Thomas Payne of Canon, GA; mother, Ann Payne of Cumming, GA; brother, Kenny Payne of Cumming, GA; brother, Gary Payne of Temecula, CA; sister and brother-in-law, Krista and Lon Fancher of Sandy Springs, GA; former spouse, Cindy Payne of Sugar Hill, GA; special friend, Chris Marren of Lawrenceville, GA; nieces and nephews, Cameron, CarolAnn, Patrick, Eric, Rick; granddaughter, Ava Payne. Memorial Services will be at 3:00 PM on Thursday, July 18, 2013 at the McDonald & Son Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2:00-3:00 PM at the funeral home.
