Richard "Doc" Edsell Holliday

Richard Doc" Edsell Holliday, age 72, of Cumming, Georgia was received into his heavenly home and took the hand of Jesus on January 3, 2015. Born March 3, 1942 in Shreveport, LA to Clyde Jr. and Wilma Darlene Holliday, where he graduated from Fair Park High School. He attended LSU and served his country proudly as a sharpshooter in the United States Marine Corps. Richard had a long respected career as Vice President of Purchasing in the hotel industry. As an active member of the First Redeemer Church, he enjoyed serving children in Vacation Bible School, Awanas and many other areas of the church. He was a lover of travel, music, theatre, LSU football and high school reunions. His great sense of humor brightened the lives of his many friends and family. He is survived by his adoring wife Jeannene; four beloved children and their spouses including David (and Lisa) Holliday of Arizona, Mary (and David) McMillan, Rachel (and Jeremy) Peyton, and Paul Holliday of California; two loving step-children Todd (and Christa) Harper, Tiffany (and Art) Beamish of Georgia; and his wonderful grandchildren Ryan Holliday, Treston Slater, Brooklyn Peyton, Mack Sellers and Brooklin, Lexi and Piper Beamish. He is also survived by his devoted sister Anita Mullins of Louisiana and many nephews, nieces, cousins and other family. He is now reunited with his predeceased parents, his sister, Betty Tucker and the mother of his children, Dew Holliday. The family wishes to express heartfelt appreciation to the many devoted friends that shared their love, support and comfort during a very difficult time. Your faithfulness will forever be a precious memory in our hearts. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 in the McDonald & Son Funeral Home Chapel.
