In Loving Memory of Richard Lee “Dick” Hickey

Richard Lee Hickey, affectionately known as “Dick,” passed away peacefully on May 30, 2025, in Johns Creek, Georgia, surrounded by his loving family. He was 86 years old.

Born in Hartford, Connecticut, Dick lived a life full of energy, laughter, and love. He was married to the love of his life, Susan Lewis Hickey, for 56 wonderful years. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised three children: Bryan Hickey, Cristin Lightsey, Laura Boyce and had 5 grandchildren.

A passionate entrepreneur, Dick spent much of his career as a business owner in Providence, Rhode Island, where his sharp mind and natural charisma earned him respect and admiration. After retiring, he and Susan moved to Florida to enjoy the sunshine and later relocated to Georgia to be closer to their children as Dick bravely faced the challenges of Alzheimer’s disease.

Dick's zest for life was unmatched. He had a deep appreciation for good wine, great food, golf, music, dancing, and travel. Whether hosting a dinner, hitting the golf course, or sharing one of his signature one-liners, he was truly the life of the party. His quick wit, warm heart, and infectious personality brought joy to everyone who knew him.

A celebration of life will be scheduled at a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a cause close to Dick’s heart.

Richard lived a wonderful, full life and leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and unforgettable memories. As his family lovingly says: “To the world you are one, to us you are the world.” “Life is a journey, not a destination.”
