Rex Lamar Martin
November 25, 1958 – November 30, 2025
With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Rex Lamar Martin, who left this world on November 30, 2025, at the age of 67. Born on November 25, 1958, Rex lived a life defined by strength, loyalty, and love.
Rex was reunited in Heaven with his beloved wife, Sherry Kaye Martin, whom he missed dearly. A proud Marine, he carried the values of honor, discipline, and resilience throughout his life.
Rex was a devoted father to his three children, who were the pride of his life: Krystal, his oldest, and her children Chloe and Carlos; Bobby, his middle son, and his wife Candace, along with their daughters Ashlynne and Kaelynne; and Kayla, his youngest, and her son Austin. Being “Peepaw” was one of his greatest joys.
Rex loved God, his family, his friends, and the simple joys that made him who he was. He could always be found cheering for NASCAR—especially anything Ford—or watching the new movies. He lived to listen to music so loud he couldnt hear anyone else around him! Only if it was some old time rock n roll!
A master carpenter and complete turnkey craftsman, Rex built not only beautiful work but an unforgettable legacy of skill and pride. As he always said on the side of his van, “Cheap work is not good, and good work is not cheap.” Those who knew him knew this to be true of every project he touched.
Rex is survived by his brothers, Dwayne and David Martin, and his sisters, Arlene and Theresa, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends who loved him dearly.
Rex will be remembered for his big heart, stubborn strength, and unwavering dedication to the people he loved. His legacy lives on in the family he built, the work of his hands, and the memories he leaves behind.
We will be honoring Rex's life this Saturday, December 6th, at 11:00 AM at Shady Grove Baptist Church, 6910 Shady Grove Road, Cumming, GA 30041. The service will be held in the chapel, and anyone who wishes to speak or share a memory is welcome to do so.
After the service, we invite everyone to join us in the fellowship hall for a meal. Feel free to bring a dish or two to share if you'd like.
