Cumming, Georgia
Rena Edwards, 67, will be remembered for her generous heart, strong spirit, love of family, and the countless lives she touched throughout her life.
Rena dedicated more than 30 years to teaching at Mount Vernon Presbyterian School, where she spent most of her career teaching first grade, along with a few years in second grade. Teaching was so much more than a profession to Rena; she was truly a teacher at heart. She loved her job and the opportunity to help children learn, grow, and discover their potential. Throughout her decades in the classroom, she made a lasting impact on generations of students and families.
Rena was generous, independent, and determined, with a personality all her own. She was a friend to many and someone who left a lasting impression on the people fortunate enough to know her. She also had a fun side that made her uniquely Rena. She enjoyed gambling and trying her luck with scratch-off lottery tickets, and she was an avid true crime fan who could always appreciate a good mystery.
Rena was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 25 years, Cliff Edwards who passed in 2004, the love of her life. Though she continued her journey without him, their love remained a special part of her story. She now joins Cliff in Heaven, reunited with the love she carried in her heart.
She is survived by her daughter, Lain Daniels; her son-in-law, Aaron Daniels; her cherished grandchildren, AJ and Lyla; her beloved sisters, Robi Watson and Rhea Coleman; and her dear grandchildren through her stepson, Randy: Cody, Marissa, and Cameron Edwards, all of whom held a special place in her heart.
Rena will be deeply missed by her family, her many friends, former colleagues, and the countless students whose lives she helped shape. Her legacy lives on in the children she taught, the generosity she shared, the relationships she built, and the memories that will forever be treasured by those who loved her.
She leaves behind a lifetime of love, laughter, and memories that will never be forgotten.
