In Loving Memory of Raymond Avery Duren
January 18, 1960 – June 13, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Raymond Avery Duren, who departed this life peacefully on June 13, 2025, at the age of 65, after courageously enduring a long journey of health challenges.

Ray chose to enter hospice care in his final days, making the brave and peaceful decision to find rest in the arms of the Lord.

Born on January 18, 1960, Ray lived his life with boldness, humor, and heart. He was fiercely funny, stubborn in the best of ways, and always knew how to make people laugh—often at just the right (or wrong) time. He carried an untamable spirit, filled every room with energy, and loved those around him deeply.

Ray was more than a brother, father, and friend—he was a light. To his siblings, especially his sister Sharon, he was a partner in childhood mischief, a steady presence through life’s trials, and a lifelong anchor. His strength and his decision to find peace was not surrender, but a testimony to his faith and his readiness to go home—not just any home, but the one prepared for him by the Lord.

Ray shared a special bond with his niece, Elisa Mason, who spent countless hours by his side—watching movies, sharing laughs, offering comfort, and being a steady companion through his most difficult days. Also faithfully by his side was his loyal service dog, Goku, whose love and devotion brought Ray endless joy and peace.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter, and his memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and cherished him.

Ray is survived by his siblings:
David Wayne Duren and wife Jane, Darrell Lee Duren and wife Nova, Sharon Mason Normandin and husband Ron.

He is also survived by his loving children: Kristen Pearson, Jessica Capote, Jimmy Duren

And by many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who were blessed to know him.

A celebration of Ray’s life will be held on Friday, July 18, 2025, at 10:00 a.m.
at Bald Ridge Marina Chapel. All who knew and loved Ray are welcome to attend and honor his life.

“Well done, good and faithful servant… Enter into the joy of your Lord.”
— Matthew 25:23
