McDonough, Georgia
It is with deep sorrow and heartfelt respect that we announce the passing of Rao Nagabhushan Lingam, known to us simply as Rao, on March 2, 2026. Born in India on June 15, 1948, and later making McDonough, Georgia, his home, Rao was a beacon of light and a pillar of strength to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Rao's life was a living testament to the ancient saying, "Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile." As a medical doctor, he dedicated his career to the service of others, healing not only their bodies but also touching their hearts with his compassion and empathy. His dedication to his patients was unwavering, and his passion for his profession was something to be admired. Even in retirement, he carried with him the spirit of service, always ready to provide counsel and comfort to those in need.
Rao carried a love for life that radiated to everyone around him. He was a loving husband to his wife, Sheela, who survives him. Their bond was a testament to their deep love and understanding for each other; a love story that was as inspiring as it was enduring. Rao was preceded in death by his father, Venkateswara Lingam, and his mother, Katyayina Lingam. He honored them by living a life of purpose, integrity, and kindness.
To paraphrase a famous quote by George Eliot, "Our dead are never dead to us until we have forgotten them." Let's keep Rao's memory alive by sharing our stories, our memories, and our experiences of him. We encourage you to visit the memorial page to leave your memories of Rao and upload photos that celebrate his life and legacy. His spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
