Dunwoody, Georgia
Radhakrishnan (RK) Gopinath, loving husband, devoted father, cherished son, loyal brother, and fierce friend, passed from this world leaving behind a family who loved him deeply. Taken far too soon on June 3, 2026, RK lived a life defined by academic and professional brilliance, quiet dedication to his family and community, and an unmatched joy that he shared with everyone fortunate enough to cross his path.
A Visionary, Leader, and Mentor
RK’s remarkable journey began in Kerala, India. Raised in Chennai, he attended Chinmaya Vidyalaya and graduated at the top of his class from Annamalai University, later earning his MBA from the University of Texas at Dallas. Over a distinguished 25-year career in telecom innovation, RK became a recognized industry pillar. After pioneering next-generation messaging solutions at Sprint-Nextel, he spent a brilliant 18 years at Cox Communications in Atlanta, rising to Assistant Vice President. A U.S. patent holder, RK architected wireless and smart home solutions and led the ground-up creation and launch of Cox Mobile, building enduring, executive-level relationships across the ecosystem. Yet, his truest corporate legacy lies in his extraordinary generosity as a mentor; no matter the business demands, he possessed an infinite capacity to guide, elevate, and support others.
A Vibrant Legacy
RK was quite simply the best of us. He loved with a profound depth that was the same whether you had met him for five minutes or known him for five years; he always gave far more of himself than he ever asked in return. True to his name, Radhakrishnan, he was a soul of pure love, compassion, wisdom, and divine charm. RK was the sun in his solar system of family and friends—never one to cast a shadow but always enveloping everyone in warmth and inviting them to join in his joy.
He absolutely loved good food, music, and a vibrant party. Without fail, he was the happiest person in any room, radiating a bright, positive energy that was absolutely contagious. Everyone who knew him will forever remember his iconic, infectious laughter filling the air.
The loss of a leader, mentor, and friend of RK’s caliber leaves an unimaginable void. Yet, the tragedy of his sudden passing cannot overshadow the sheer brightness of the life he lived. He taught everyone around him how to work with purpose, how to push past obstacles with a smile, and how to treat every single individual with warmth and dignity.
He is survived by the family who will forever carry both his radiant memory and the weight of his absence. He leaves behind his loving wife, Anuradha Gopalakrishnan; his beloved children, Lekha and Vedha; his parents, Gopinath KR and Chandrika; his sister, Sujatha; and a vast global network of friends and colleagues who will miss him dearly.
A service honoring RK's life will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, from 12:00PM-2:00PM, at McDonald and Son Funeral Home.
