Priscilla Mortland

Priscilla A. Mortland, 85, of Cumming Georgia passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2024.

She was born on April 2, 1939, in DuBois, PA and raised in St Marys, PA, the daughter of the late Anthony and Ella Squires Nero.

On January 21, 1961, Priscilla married her true love, Richard J. Mortland. Together they shared 63 years of life; full of love, laughter, and happiness.

Priscilla was a graduate of Central High School Class of 1957, where she developed and maintained some of her most cherished friendships. She went on to graduate from the Mercy School of Nursing in Pittsburgh, PA where she pursued a career in nursing... she touched a lot of lives in her career. Priscilla was ahead of her time, pursuing her nursing career while raising six children with her husband, Richard. She was a member of St. Brendan The Navigator Catholic Church and a great supporter and volunteer at the St. Joseph’s Food Pantry.

Priscilla completely enjoyed time with people. It was often said she never met a stranger... through her engaging way of wanting to know all about you or listening to everything you wanted to say, she was present. A devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Priscilla enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her family. Her family was the light and love of her life, she adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought much joy to her life. On any given holiday she would rather sit at the kids table, always ready for a card game or a trip to the beach. She also enjoyed rooting on her favorite teams: the Pittsburgh Steelers, Penguins and Pirates.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by six children: Lynn Pistner of Atlanta, GA – Mark Mortland of Pittsburgh, PA – Jeffrey (Bridget) Mortland of Des Moines, Iowa – Ella Koscik of Atlanta, GA – Patricia (Paul) Gallahan of Ashburn, VA – Christopher (Diane) Mortland of Cumming, GA. Seventeen grandchildren: Matthew (Bekah) Bauer, Sarah Pistner, Christen Pistner, Marcus Mortland, Nicholas Mortland, Krista Mortland, Justin Mortland, Victoria (Isaiah) Burroughs, Brody Lind, Olivia Koscik, Isabelle Koscik, Ansley Koscik, Kayla Gallahan, Shane Gallahan, Nathan Mortland, Allison Mortland, Davis Mortland. Four great-grandchildren: Lorenzo, Joanna, Avery, and Georgia. And Two brothers: Raymond Nero and George (Karen) Nero.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother; Dale Nero and her two sisters; Dolly Yetzer and Eileen Rimer.

Family and friends will be received at The McDonald & Son funeral Home, 150 Sawnee Drive, Cumming, GA 30040 on Monday, June 10th, from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at St. Brendan The Navigator Catholic Church, 4633 Shiloh Road, Cumming, GA 30040.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the American Cancer Society and/or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital would be appreciated.
