The Giglia Family would like to share with you the passing of Peter John Giglia, Founder of Colony Park Office Communities and Cambridge Square Office Park.
Peter John Giglia, age 86, beloved husband and father, was carried home in the loving arms of our savior Jesus on Sunday, August 18, 2024.
Peter was born on June 28, 1938, in Manhattan, New York. He was the first child of Victor and Giaconda Colletti Giglia. He was proceeded in death by a sister, Joanna Giglia.
Peter graduated with a degree in drafting and began his career in the Florida construction and building products industry, where he met his wife and future business partner, June Rose Sully. They were married on February 16, 1962. After numerous successful years in the corporate world, Peter became an entrepreneur, forming multiple companies specializing in a diverse range of endeavors from manufacturing to land development and home building. After moving to the Atlanta area in 1983, he and June began developing commercial real estate in Alpharetta, beginning with Cambridge Square Office Park in 1984, then Colony Park Offices in 1994. His sons, Wayne and Daniel teamed with him in 1986 and 1987 making a true “family business”. Grandsons Peter and Johnathan joined (2019 and 2023) forming a third-generation Commercial Real Estate Legacy.
Peter’s vision and creative drive was instrumental in shaping the future character of Alpharetta and the result of that leadership is evident today in the wonderful architecture, family-friendly environment, and prosperity that is in the City of Alpharetta today.
Peter was awarded the Industries Choice Award (1987), Metro Atlanta, Best in Class. Peter also received the Prosperity Award, Alpharetta Business Shining Star – Business Man of the Year (2019).
Peter was a loving and devoted husband, father of two sons, grandfather of five and great-grandfather of two brand new baby girls. His family was his most precious possession and one of his favorite sayings was “Famiglia e Tutto” or “Family is Everything”. He lived his life according to that credo.
He always led through example with unwavering love and kindness, pioneering a path for his family, and leading with his ample experience and bottomless love. He will always be the Giglias’ guiding light, and his memory will never fade.
Peter leaves behind a legacy of love and Godly morals that challenge all to follow in his path. His family and countless friends will miss him sorely, and while the world is a lesser place without him, we take comfort in Heaven’s reclaiming of the precious Spirit of Peter John. We pray for his spirit to be with us all and guide us forth in the light of the Lord.
