Pegi Lauren Black Obituary (1947 - 2015)

Mrs. Pegi Lauren Black, age 68, of Dahlonega passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at Embracing Hospice in Cumming, Ga following the return of an extended illness. Born in Paris, France, she had lived in the Atlanta area where she was a member of the Women's Commerce Club and the Great Pyrenees Rescue of Georgia. Mrs. Black had lived in Dahlonega since 2005. She was a business woman, homemaker, gardener, and a passionate and dedicated animal rights advocate and rescuer. She had 14 dogs, 2 cats, a macaw, 4 finches, and 42 exotic chickens when she died. She was born into and raised in the Catholic faith. Mrs. Black was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Suzanne Touraine Ederer Wallens-Lenglin of Atlanta and Paris, France. She is survived by her husband of 24 years, Michael M. Black, children: Michael (Susie) Irwin and Ashley (Frances) Irwin, all of Alpharetta, Richard Tyler Irwin, of Dahlonega, Michelle (John) Blankenship of Atlanta, Paige (Alex) Bird of Kennesaw; grandchildren: Margaret, Holly, Austin and Ethan, her father Joseph H. Ederer of Homosassa, Florida, brother Eric W. Wallens of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and Paris, France; half-brothers Jody Ederer of Clermont, Ga, Chris Ederer of Villa Ridge, MO; half-sister Erin Ederer of Ogden, UT; parents-in-law Marvin and Joeanne Black of Clarkesville, Ga, and sisters-in-law Laurel Marks of Kennesaw and Jennifer Vullo of Clarkesville. A celebration of life will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, July 12, 2015 in the chapel of Dahlonega Funeral Home. A reception will follow in the funeral home community room.
