Cumming, Georgia
Paul Joseph Ettere of Cumming, GA, passed away on December 22, 2021.
Paul was born March 12, 1944, in Mount Vernon, NY, to the late Joseph and Angela Ettere. Paul will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father, and friend. He was of the Catholic faith and served as an altar boy at his community church. Paul worked as a skilled journeyman carpenter for the New York City Transit Authority. Paul broke a NYC Transit record for not missing a day of work in over 5 years. He retired after 25 years of service during which time he received multiple awards and special recognition for his exemplary and loyal service.
Paul will be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor. Paul loved to talk with family and friends, and almost every conversation would come to points where Paul would make a pun out of the most trivial of words. He often left family and friends with temporary blind stares --- until he explained the meaning of the pun. They were always very clever and created a laugh and an 'ah ha" moment.
The sunshine and beaches of Florida was a favorite place for Paul to vacation. He loved spending time in the warm sunny weather, but not nearly as much as a playing a good game of Bocci! He and his family enjoyed many Sunday dinners that would conclude with competitive Bocci games in the backyard. Those included traditional witty "trash talking" to throw the other team off their game. It was all good fun!
Paul is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Angela Ettere. He is survived by his loving wife, Janeane Ettere, children April Harris (James Harris), Danielle Ritacco (George Ritacco), Christopher Ettere (Emily Ettere), and brother Roy Ettere. He is also survived by eight adoring grandchildren; Kahlan, James, Liam, Jack, Olivia, Adelaide, Finn, and Vivienne. He will be missed by many.
Service dates are December 28th from 5pm to 8pm at Mcdonald and Son's and December 29th at 11am at Good Shepherd Catholic Church.
