Patsy Wainwright (1938 - 2026)

Patsy “Pat” Scott Wainwright, 88, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her family on June 27, 2026, in Cumming, Georgia. She was a devout Christian, talented seamstress, avid reader, and lover of Hallmark movies, Christmas, animals, especially rabbits, and the color red. A proud Air Force wife, she loved her country and often could be seen wearing red, white, and blue year-round.

Pat was born in Port Arthur, Texas in 1938 to the late Albert and Mary (Morton) Scott, a merchant mariner and homemaker of the Cayman Islands. She was the second-born of six children, five daughters and one son. She and her sisters were often referred to as the fabulous five. She came from humble beginnings and often helped her family in any way she could.

Pat met the love of her life, Ronald Wainwright, when she was only 13 years old after her family moved across the street from his grandmother’s house. They were married on September 20, 1958, and shared 67 happy years of marriage.

Pat was a graduate of H.B. Plant High School in Tampa, Florida, in 1956. She was a homemaker until the late 1980s, when she earned her teaching certificate. She joyfully served as an elementary school computer teacher for twelve years at Montview Elementary School, where she was often mentioned as a favorite teacher by her students. A loyal member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Huntsville, Alabama, for more than 35 years, she enjoyed spending time with her Sunday school class and worshipping with her many friends there.

Pat was the mother of two children, Ron Jr. and Sharon, who were her world. She is remembered by both of them as a selfless, loving, and caring mother who always made sure their house felt like a home. Whether she was handmaking Sharon’s prom dress, attending and volunteering at all of Ron Jr.’s swim meets, or making cupcakes for their school bake sale, she was the kind of mom who consistently went above and beyond for her children.

Affectionately known as Meme or Mema, Pat delighted in spending time with her grandchildren, whether she was sitting on the floor playing with them or baking cookies in the kitchen. Some of her family’s fondest memories are of Christmases spent at her home, baking cookies, watching holiday movies, driving through neighborhoods to admire Christmas lights, and laughing together. She had a special gift for making ordinary moments feel magical and for creating memories her family will treasure for generations.

At the end of her life, Pat enjoyed spending time with her family, getting her nails done, and watching Virgin River.

She lived her life for her family and will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.

Pat is survived by her husband, Ron Sr.; her children, Ron Jr. (Lisa) and Sharon (Rick); her grandchildren, Amy (Lincoln), Jason (Maria), Jessica (Matthew), Samantha (Kevin), and Kyle (Victoria); her great-grandchildren, Mila, Otis, and Koda and two more lovingly anticipated great-grandchildren due Fall 2026, Cozette and Lochlan; her sister, Susie; her brother, Albert; her nieces and nephews; Anne (Mike), Donna Sue (Jerry), Don Jr., Trina (Tom), Lindsey (Andrew), and Ashley; as well as many great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, and great-great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Lou, Sylvia, and Alberta; her nephew, Leonard; and her parents.

In lieu of flowers, Pat’s family kindly asks that you make a donation to Free2Teach (https://free2teach.org/donate/), Humane Society of North Georgia (/https://secure.qgiv.com/for/humanesocietyofnortheastgeorgiatribute), or Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library (https://donate.imaginationlibrary.com/) in her honor.

A celebration of life will be held at McDonald and Son Funeral home at 2pm on July 25th, 2026.
