Cumming, Georgia
Patricia Ruth Edwards, born April 20, 1933, passed away on November 18, 2022 surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Daughter of Jacob Van Dyke and Ada Darling Van Dyke, she graduated from Ridgewood High School NJ and Centenary Jr. College, NJ.
In 1955, Patricia married H. Scudder Edwards Jr. They lived in many places as they served with the U.S. Navy and the Presbyterian church. They had four children, eight grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
Pat was a strong woman, dedicated wife, loving mother, and a vibrant member of the community. After moving to Cumming, Georgia in 1992, Pat spent her time volunteering along with her husband for the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Northside Forsyth Hospital, the Forsyth County Optimist Club, and many Presbyterian churches. In all things, she was unapologetically herself.
She will be laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery alongside the love of her life, Rev. H. Scudder Edwards Jr. Pat's family offers prayers and thanks for a life well-lived, for their time together, and for the loving couple reunited again. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Forsyth County Child Advocacy Center or Special Equestrians of Georgia.
Pat is survived by her children, Amy (Crawford), Timothy (Gainesville), Mark (Alpharetta), and Alexander (Clermont), their spouses, her brother Douglas Van Dyke (East Haddam, CT) and his spouse, her sister Marilyn Yates (Hilton Head, SC), her grandchildren, Chelsea (Gainesville), Jake (Brookhaven), Zackary (Hoschton), Kayla (Covington), Jeremey (Alpharetta), Madison Grace (Dawsonville), Marissa (Alpharetta), Collin (Clermont), her great-grandson Michael (Covington), and all those who enjoyed her stories (which, by the way, were all true).
