Norman Samuel Beverly

–

Cumming, Georgia

Norman Samuel Beverly 80, of Cumming, GA passed away on Friday, July 19, 2019 surrounded by his beloved family and friends.

On October 1st 1938 in Eaton Town, New Jersey, Joseph and Augusta Beverly had their third and last child together, Norman Beverly. The eldest sibling was Norman's Sister, Virgina (a.k.a Ginny). The second born was Norman's brother, Joseph. Because Norm was the youngest of the three, his mother referred to him as "her baby boy". On January 18th, 1945 -Norman's father died in the Battle Of Bulge. 5 years later in 1950, Augusta decided to take her "baby boy" and move to Miami Florida.

Norman met Marilyn Hoyt in middle school, but to say they hit it off right away would be far from accurate. Marilyn did not understand Norman's education ethics and his dating lifestyle was more than she could handle. (Let's just say the ladies loved Norm....) They were from two different worlds but always seemed to rub shoulders throughout the middle and high school years. Norman served as a marine from 1956-1963.
When Marilyn and Norman were both attending Miami High School, Norman began dating a woman who was very close to Marilyn. Marilyn and Norman ran in to each other more often now that their list of mutual friends was growing.

Marilyn still wasn't very fond of Norman but she grew to accept him as a friend. One hot Miami day, Marilyn was waiting for a bus on the corner of 33rd and Flagler Street. Norman just happened to be driving by when he saw his future love, and at this moment he made the decision to stop and ask her if she needed a ride. After a lot of Norman's typical smiling and convincing, Marilyn agreed and this was the moment that sealed their destiny together. Norman and Marilyn married in Sept. 18, 1960 and began a journey that would last a lifetime.

They adopted a baby boy, Christopher Beverly, in 1972 and eventually moved to Smyrna GA in 1979. In the following years Norman became a grandfather to Angel, Erin and Christian. Him and Marilyn raised all the children as their own and spent their retired years travelling and giving every opportunity to their grandchildren. Norman moved to Cumming Ga in 2001 with Marilyn and his grandchildren. This home would be the home of their dreams: A white house with a wrap-around porch and acres of property allowing him to create and grow a beautiful garden full of vegetables and blueberry bushes.

On July 19th 2019 Norman passed away in this very home, surrounded by his family and love.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 from 6-8pm at McDonald and Son Funeral Home.

A celebration of Norman's life will be held at a later date.
