Norman Jerry Allen, Sr.

Norman Jerry Allen, Sr., 74, of Cumming, GA passed away on July 16, 2010. Born in Fulton County, he was the son of the late Robert and Berdie Allen. He was also predeceased by his daughter, Brenda Allen; sister, Sandra Allen; and brother, Robert Allen. Mr. Allen was an active member of his church, God s House of Prayer in Cumming, GA. In 1991 he was raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason in Ducktown Lodge #572 and later served as Master. He was member and Past Master of E.W. Hightower Lodge #679. He also held many honorary memberships. Worshipful Brother Allen was a Companion in Silver Shoals Chpt. #14 Royal Arch Masons, he was awarded Mason of the year in 2000, the same year that he traveled to visit 109 lodges. He was a dedicated member of the Yaarab Shrine Temple in Atlanta, a member and Past President (2002) of Cumming Shrine Club, and also served as an escort for children, transporting them for medical care to both Cincinnati, OH and Greenville, SC. He was a member and Past Patron of Ducktown Chpt. #460 Order of the Eastern Star.. Mr. Allen is survived by his loving wife, Omie Allen of Cumming, GA; son Jerry (Pat) Allen, Jr. of Ellijay, GA, daughter Sandra (Edward) Barclay of Cumming, GA; daughter Barbara (Dick) Trump of Pennsylvania; brother David Allen of Commerce, GA; 9 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren with one more on the way; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 pm on Sunday, July 18, 2010 in the Chapel of McDonald & Son Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6:00 9:00 pm on Saturday, July 17, 2010, and again on Sunday until the hour of the service. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Norman s name to the Shriners Hospitals for Children at www.shrinershq.org or to the Masonic Home of GA at 1417 Nottingham Dr, Macon, GA 31211.
