Michael Granger

It is with profound respect and a deep sense of loss that the family of Mike Granger announces his peaceful passing on January 27, 2024, in Cumming, Georgia, at the age of 78. Born on September 28, 1945, in Burlington, Vermont, Mike lived a life marked by devotion to his family, his country, and his faith.

Mike leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter as the cherished husband of Pauline for 52 years, and as the guiding light for his children, Patrick and Jenn. He is preceded in passing by his parents, Bernard and Madeline Granger, and by his sister, Jane Alvarez, who has welcomed him into eternal rest.

A man of quiet humor and subtle wisdom, Mike dedicated his talents to the Lanier United Methodist Church, where he found joy in managing the audio/visual elements of the weekly services. His service to God was a testament to his unwavering faith and commitment to his community.

Mike's patriotism was exemplified in his honorable career in the United States Air Force, where he served from 1967 to 1990 and retired as a Captain.

In his own words. “My 23 years serving my Country was a truly wonderful experience. The high points significantly outweighed the low points. Thankfully the low points were few and far between. My decision to enlist in the Air Force in 1967 and then to reenlist four years later were among the most important of my life and, I believe, the most appropriate.”

Following his military service, he continued to contribute to society through his work with the State of Florida, from which he retired after 20 years.

The family will gather for a Celebration of Life at Lanier United Methodist Church in Cumming, Georgia, on February 17, 2024, at 2 pm. Mike will be laid to rest in Versailles, Illinois, in the family cemetery at a later date.

Arrangements for Mike's farewell have been entrusted to McDonald's Funeral Home, Cumming, Georgia.
