Merle G. Miller

Merle Gooden Miller, 90, of Alpharetta, GA, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2021.

She was born on November 3, 1930 in Elizabethtown, NC to the late Carl and Evelyn Gooden. She attended business school in Charlotte, NC and worked 12 years with Celanese Corp. She retired after 35 years with the GE Lighting Division in Charlotte. Merle was an active member of Selwyn Avenue Presbyterian Church with special interest in mission work. She enjoyed nature, tennis, beach trips and most of all time with family and friends. Merle is preceded in death by her husband Lonnie Miller and brother John Gooden. She is survived by her daughter Denise Johnson and son in law Phil of Canton, GA; son Ray Miller of South Weber, UT; granddaughter Shannon Miller Frith and husband Corey of Spring, TX; granddaughter Lauren Porterfield and husband Tim of Roswell, GA; great grandchildren Marissa Miller, Hunter Porterfield and Walker Porterfield; sisters Dorris Cook, Florence Cox, Nadine Evans and Marsha Faucette as well as many nieces and nephews.

Due to COVID, a Memorial Service will not be held until Saturday, June 12 at 10:00 in Bladen Memorial Gardens, Elizabethtown, NC. The family wishes to thank Addington Place of Alpharetta for helping with Merle's care.
