Matthew Mashburn

Dahlonega, Georgia

Matthew Mashburn found eternal peace on May 5, 2024. He was an accomplished self taught musician, an old soul, and avid reader. He had an unfailing sense of loyalty to those he loved and a remarkable sense of humor. His laugh was infectious! When he loved, he loved unconditionally. His loving spirit and willingness to help even strangers were unparalleled to any other. These attributes along with his true gift of always being able to show compassion to everyone he met, will live on in the hearts and soul's of his friends and family forever.

He is loved and survived by Daughter Freya Vasquez- Mashburn, Mother Lori (Steve) Harris, Father Stacy (Carrie) Mashburn, Sisters Rebecca (Jorge) Castillo, Mallory Mashburn, Savannah (Kody) O’Neal, Brothers Stephen (Amanda Freidin) Harris, Andrew (Kelly) Davis, Beau (Sarah) Davis, Grandmothers Dorothy Perry and Judy Thogmartin, and Grandfather Mike Warner, Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by Grandparents Jack and Barbara Hiers, James Mashburn, and Joe Thogmartin.

Matthew fought mental health and addiction issues. He took solace in his faith, loved Jesus and inspired others. He would encourage others to find help for their struggles and love them through it. "Take these broken wings and learn to fly...all your life you were waiting for this moment to be free." (Blackbird by John Lennon and Paul McCartney")

In honor of Matthew we ask that today and going forward you remember to be kind, have an openness to talk, and more importantly one to listen, see, and hear without judgement. And always be willing to help another person through their pain.
