Mary Ruth Wilson Grant

GRANT, Mary Mrs. Mary Ruth Wilson Grant, age 76 of Cumming, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2014. Mrs. Grant is survived by her husband of 53 years, James C. Grant, Jr., her son Gregory Grant and his wife Diane and her daughter Ginger Grant Salmon and her husband Slade. Mary also enjoyed her six grandchildren: Tyler, Trevor and Taylor Grant and Micah, Mckenna and Masyn Salmon. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gladys and Harrison Wilson. Mrs. Grant started as a secretary for the Doraville City Hall and was later promoted to City Clerk, serving in that role for 12 years prior to her retirement after 34 years of service. Mary was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her passions included sewing, quilting, gardening and collecting curios. The couple attended North Peachtree Baptist Church and First Redeemer Church for many years. After retirement, they later moved to Cumming where she enjoyed their life together tending to their flower and vegetable gardens. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Monday, August 18 in the funeral home chapel. The Grant family will receive friends on Sunday, August 17 from 6 to 8 PM at McDonald & Son Funeral Home and Crematory, Cumming.
