Marie B. Pirkle

Marie Adelaide Burda Pirkle, 92, of Cumming, GA, went home to be with her heavenly father Saturday, August 18, 2012. She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years Willis (Pirk) Pirkle, and her two sisters, Jean Burda & Alice Ray. She was born in Bellaire, Ohio August 1, 1920 to James & Mary Adelaide Burda. She retired from the Federal Government at Fort McPherson in 1980. The Pirkles moved to Lake Lanier where they enjoyed many years on the lake with their four children. Marie loved her bridge friends. She was a charter member of Cumming Bridge Club. Marie was a charter member of of Cumming Baptist Church and Chapel Sunday School class. She was a volunteer of our local hospital for 31 years. She will be missed by her many friends at The Orchards, where she lived for the past six years. Marie was loved by all, especially her family, and never met a stranger. She stayed active and was full of life until the very end. Marie's unique personality will be remembered forever, her feistiness and strong will to overcome her health challenges. Marie is survived by her 2 brothers, Jim Burda & Dan Burda, and children, Jeff & Divina Pirkle, Sandra & Jim Kave, Linda & Gary Voccio, Deby & Jim Bost, and eight grandchildren, and 1 great-grandson. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to Cumming Baptist Church to their building fund. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 PM on Monday, August 20, 2012 at the Cumming Baptist Church with interment to follow in Sawnee View Gardens.
