Marian Jean (Aardema) Van Wyk

Marian Jean (Aardema) Van Wyk, aged 86, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday morning, June 17, 2023.

Marian was born on October 3, 1936 to Martin and Genevieve Aardema in Falmouth, Michigan. She was the third of nine siblings raised in a unique stone house built during the Depression from stones her father gathered from the surrounding fields and woods. Marian graduated from Calvin College where she met her husband, Lambert Van Wyk. After marriage they both accepted teaching positions at Eastern Christian Schools in New Jersey, and shortly began their own large family, raising six sons and a daughter in a home full of love and activity. Some years later, Marian and Bert moved with the 2 youngest children to Cumming, GA. There Marian resumed teaching and continued the vocation she loved into her 70's. In addition to the love she showed to her family and pupils, Marian loved her Lord and faithfully spent time in God's word.

Marian was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lambert Van Wyk, Jr. She will be dearly missed by her children, Steven Van Wyk, Scott (Laura) Van Wyk, Craig (Lisa) Van Wyk, Tom Van Wyk, Joel (Adoneia) Van Wyk, Michael (Elaine) Van Wyk, and Rachel Van Wyk; her grandchildren, Holly (Matt) Dykstra, Anna (Todd) Mitchell, Ben Van Wyk, Dan (Sloan) Van Wyk, Jake (Kayleigh) Van Wyk, Spencer Van Wyk, Jonathan Van Wyk, Emily Van Wyk, Arthur Moreira, Jonathan Moreira, Nick Van Wyk, Rebecca Van Wyk, and Kaitlyn Van Wyk; her 6 great grandchildren; her siblings, Corinne (Sam) Bosch, Don (Ann) Aardema, Carl (Mary) Aardema, Roger (Carol) Aardema, Linda Bryant, Bonnie (Ron) Fynewever, Pat (John) Fynewever, and Nancy Aardema (Doug Lindborg); sister-in-law Helen Van Wyk; many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Joel and Adoneia Van Wyk for taking Marian into their home and providing her with loving and compassionate care during her final years. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 24, at 11:00 A.M. at Parkway Presbyterian Church, Cumming, GA. Interment Sawnee View Memorial Gardens. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church from 10-11 on Saturday morning.
