Maria Amelia Dewey

Maria Amelia Gerez Dewey, born February 26, 1947, in Benito Juarez, Argentina, passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer's on Sunday August 6, 2017.

Maria Amelia is survived by her loving eternal husband John Dewey, her sister Cristina Kohl, her children John Dewey Jr, Matthew Dewey, Rebecca Carper, Jacob Dewey, Joseph Dewey and Cecilia Castillo, as well as her 13 grandchildren.

Maria's passion for music and her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ influenced all aspects of her life. For as long as she was physically able to she sang with numerous organizations including the Gainesville Chorale and church choir. She served faithfully in the Atlanta Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Visitation will be held Saturday August 12, 2017, 10am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Brannon Rd in Cumming, Georgia.

Funeral services will held on Saturday, August 12, 2017, at 11am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Brannon Rd in Cumming, Georgia. Internment will follow immediately after in the Sawnee View Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Cumming, Georgia.

The family has asked that donations be made in lieu of flowers to the Alzheimer's association's Walk to End Alzheimer's-Team Maria's Minions.
